I can’t believe it’s nearly September! There’s always something a little sad about the end of August – the end of summer and holidays. Summer rarely sticks around for long in Wales anyway!
→ Things that made me happy in August
Finally having a garden to sit out in 🙂 All the Dahlia we planted back in March (except one that got scoffed by slugs…) popped up at the start of August too – but if you follow me on Instagram you’ll be well aware of that. I feel like all I’ve been posting on there recently are snaps of Dahlia heads.
Having a couple of bites on the novel submissions front – even if they come to nothing – was a welcome surprise.
→ The best meal I cooked
Tuna Poke. Such an easy, summery dish.
→ Favourite Adventure
Definitely the trip up to see the Red Kite Feeding Centre.
→ Celebration
Three years of marriage without killing each other. Achievement unlocked.
→ Discovery
Lidl’s Cinnamon Buns. I’ve eaten so many this month that I wouldn’t be surprised if I turned into one.
→ Book
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I’d been desperate to read it for a while – but it was completely different to what I was expecting, in a good way though! (read my review here) 🙂
→ Clothes
The weather’s been having a strop all summer so I didn’t get the chance to wear all those summer dresses and sandals I’ve got. Forever optimistic however, I did buy this skirt from H&M – and I practically wore this old T shirt from Zara every damn day.
→ Music
Other than the usual soundtracks I listen to while I write (a lot of Ennio Morricone and Thomas Newman), I couldn’t get P!nk’s ‘Just Like Fire’ out of my head – and also Bastille’s Good Grief.
→ TV
That 70’s Show. I used to love watching it back in the day but kind of dipped in and out and so I never saw every episode, or even followed in order – but thanks to the beauty of Netflix, I can binge it from start to finish. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s basically an American sitcom that follows a group of teenagers during their final two years or so of high school back in the late 70s – full of pop culture references, great music… and Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. 🙂
One reply on “My August”
