Wet West Country Wedding

You can’t control the weather, even in summer.  And on those days when you desperately want it to be on your side, it usually has other plans!  A couple of weekends ago we drove down to Devon to celebrate the wedding of a very good friend from our University days, at  Yeoldon House near Bideford.  We were optimistic right up until we left for the church (…I even braved it in a bare-shoulder jumpsuit) but the weather had its own plans and it poured all day.  Still, its these sorts of things that make weddings particularly memorable, and even if the weather wasn’t lovely, the wedding itself was.  The bride looked beautiful, the details were all so thoughtful and everyone had a brilliant time (even if we were all a bit soggy by the end!) 🙂

The venue was beautiful, and the bride and groom had done so much of the hard work themselves; the bride’s grandparents baked the cake, and the father of the bride did all the flowers himself (which were stunning!) – even carving the wooden, light up initials near the staircase.  Such a crafty, clever family!
