Autumn Fashion Edit: 5 New Things

DSC_0003

It’s been absolutely boiling here in Cardiff this week which is just typical, innit?  And there was me all ready to bust out the big jumpers, boots and scarves.  I took Bungle for a walk earlier in the week and ended up coming back a sweaty mess!  Still, it’s getting colder every morning and I can’t wait to really get into my Autumn wardrobe – including these five things I picked up recently. 🙂

1. Baggy Jumper

I really wanted to find a nice oversized jumper to wear this autumn, and I fell in love with this one when I spotted it in H&M at the end of the summer.  The colour is a kind of frosty blue that goes so well with denim, and the wool isn’t too prickly either.

2. Trainers

There’s absolutely no way I can get away with the whole ugly trainer trend – nor would I want to, if I’m being completely honest.  I DON’T GET IT.  I mean, £705 for these?  I’m not a fan.  I am, however, a massive fan of Converse.  My mint green high tops are well loved, and over the summer I felt like I fancied picking up a white ankle pair that would go with both jeans and dresses.  But, it’s Autumn now and there’s no way a pristine clean pair of white chucks are going to survive the morning dog walk through puddles and leaf mould.  So instead of shelling out £50 on a pair that are probably going to be ruined by the time the Christmas decs go up, I spent £6 on these dupes from Primark. 🙂

3. Snuggly Oversized Scarf

I really didn’t need another scarf – I’ve got LOADS – but I haven’t got a black one.  I spotted (…😉 ) this one in Zara at the end of August and just knew I’d end up wearing it all winter with everything – because it’ll go with everything!  And, the polka dots mean that it’s not just another boring black scarf.

4. Statement Shirt

You know me, I can’t resist a weird shirt and I’ve been eyeing up adding a bold black and white striped one to my collection for a while now.  I pretty much haven’t taken this one off since I picked it up in H&M at the beginning of September, so I’m counting it as a solid addition to the squad.  It’s not made from silk, but it’s kind of a heavy weighted alternative which means it hangs really nicely.  I LOVE it.

5. Animal Print

Okay, so this one technically isn’t new – but I’ve brought it back into rotation after a long summer break.  I love all the animal prints out there right now, but I’m yet to find anything I like clothing wise – plus, aren’t we a little close to overdoing it?  I mean, so many people are wearing animal print (particularly leopard) at the moment that it’s practically becoming a uniform.  I love it, but like I said, I’m yet to make the plunge clothing wise and if I’m honest I’m not entirely sure I will.  But, what I do have is the Cheetah Print Bag I picked up in TK Maxx, I think around this time last year.  It’s enough to jazz up my Autumn/Winter grey, monochrome and denim wardrobe without going full on Jungle Book.

Have a great weekend guys! 🙂

What I Wore: Autumn Greens

It’s finally scarf weather!  If you caught my Instagram Stories a few weeks back then you’ll have seen my excitement at bringing down my towering bundle of scarfs from the top of my wardrobe – and this silky teal green scarf is one of my absolute faves.  This time of year I feel like the clothing colour palette is so geared towards hot reds, oranges, mustards, maroons – all the colours that tend to wash my Daz White skin out!  Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got a mustard jumper that I’m very attached to – but teal green ticks all the boxes for me and my pale, cool-shades-loving tones.  And actually, it goes really, really with mustard too.  🙂

Did anyone do #NoSpendOctober?  I did it without even thinking about it (thanks flu!) and then officially jumped on the bandwagon at the end of the month.  I’ve been trying to get more use out of the clothes I’ve got hanging in my wardrobe recently anyway and have tried coming up with new outfits from what I’ve already got rather than cramming more impulse purchases into my already packed (and kind messy!) cupboards.  I think I’m going to keep going with it and see where it takes me.

Scarf – H&M (Old!  Similar here).  Blouse – White Stuff (Old Similar here).  Belt – £12.99 H&M.  Jeans – M&S (Old!).  Bag – TK Maxx (Similar here).  Coat – Primark (in store now).  Shoes – Primark (from the summer – I added the ribbons myself to stop them slipping off my giant feet.  In hindsight I probably shouldn’t have worn them – my feet froze!)

What are your favourite colours to wear this time of year? 🙂

What I did Last Weekend: The First Day of Autumn

Last Friday was the Autumn Equinox, officially the first day of Autumn – which is exactly what I told the bloke in the lift on the ride up from the car park in John Lewis when he mentioned how lovely the weather was (I totally looked like I knew my stuff, but the truth is I was as oblivious as he was until I saw people tweeting about it over breakfast).  It really was nice out – and having been stuck inside all week feeling a bit ill, I’d decided earlier that morning to get out, enjoy it and feel a bit more like myself again. 🙂

Every day (…and not just the lovely sunny days) starts off with a walk in the field with Bungle.   We’ve had some off-lead trust issues until recently, when he snapped his fifth lead in as many months.  He’s getting too strong for me to walk him!  What used to be a tug-of-war around the field every morning has become so much nicer now that I can trust him to come back!

I left Bungle snoozing in the kitchen and drove into Cardiff, which was looking stunning in the sunshine.  At the moment there are lots of big painted dogs – “Snow Dogs” – guarding various spots across the city.  Each one is different and you can download a trail map to find them all and raise money for  Tŷ Hafan in the process!  I found this very Autumny one outside the library on The Hayes.  It’s such a lovely idea and reminds me of something similar I saw in Berlin, but with bears instead.

(Look Missy, I found a Mustard jumper for £8.99!)

Popped into my fave, H&M, to visit the clothes.  I love Autumnal Fashion, and came away with a couple of jumpers to replace some shrunken, moth-eaten ones hanging around at the back of my cupboard.

Headed to Barker Tea House in the arcade for a pit stop.  I can’t rave about Barker enough, everything about it is cosy – from the candles, blankets and wing back chairs, to the food and drink.  I snuggled up with a book, a brownie and a coconut hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows and a flake (although the flake had drowned by the time I sat down…).

Sang along to Paramore’s new album all the way home to see this guy (…and the present he’d left for me on the kitchen floor…).

Had a lazy afternoon catching up with some housework (and Youtube…) until Sunny came home, then I cooked up a red pepper risotto for us for dinner.  It’s not Sunny’s favourite, it has to be said, but I love eating risotto this time of year – it’s warm and gloopy and satisfying.

What did you get up to last weekend?  ♡
